Why are we hiding?

Why are we hiding?

This is the question I have to those of us who claim to be people of integrity. This is the question I ask to people who claim to have charisma. This is the same question I ask to people who walk in leadership who are not coming forward today in all the horrible travesties and senseless acts we see ongoing in our world. The real question I want to ask is why are we as believers in God hiding? Someone asked me last year why is it that when this country in the past faced injustice and the leaders of the church community were at the forefront, why is this not the case in the 21st century?  They asked me why church leaders afraid to talk about the controversial subjects that we are face in this world today. They just didn’t   understand why the church was so not present in the many fights that our nation faces. I thought about it for a while and realized that as the body of Christ we really are not dealing with half the issue that this world faces today. When you have people who choose not to be present then that is the measure in which people either move or don’t move. Attitudes of people ae the direct result of their leadership. So the scary yet real reality is that if you have poor leaders that refuse to stand up for what right then the attitudes and behaviors of their followers will duplicates such actions. I am so disappointed with what we as the church are not doing to better our world. I am not asking for people to die for causes but I am saying that issues of police brutality, senseless murders of young people, and downright injustices should awaken the attention of those holding the moral compass. The bible is clear when it say if you have the ability to right by somebody then you should do it. It also tells us to help those who can’t help themselves. I just don’t understand why we have decided to take the passive way towards these very real issues. I feel like we have taken the path of least resistance as if Christ had that choice. On one hand I can understand that it’s hard to put yourself out there because of the back lash that one may receive but conflict is a very real part of this walk. I also am very aware that it’s hard to go outside the church and fight when some of the same issues still exist in the church today. How can we speak on racism if Sunday is the most segregated day of the week? You have more people coming together for sports games than churches on Sunday. I have said many times including in my book (The Mentality of Man from and African American Perspective) that hip hop and music has done more to bring people together than the church has.

So I started this off by saying why are we hiding? and this goes out to anyone who has seen or heard something that you knew was wrong but you said nothing or didn’t move to action for some reason. This goes out to those who know that they need to say something about injustice but refuse to do so. This message is for those who are tired of doing nothing and want to stop hiding behind all the mirages that seem to hold us back. This message is for those who are tired of being punks and are willing to take a stand knowing that if you don’t you will fall for any and everything.

To every person of every race, religion, and culture this is an all-out call out for you to do something about all the wrong that you see each day. The time is now to stop hiding and being afraid of confronting a situation that should be addressed.  Stop buying into the weak mindset that just wants things to go away. THINGS ARE NOT JUST GOING AWAY THEY ARE GETTING WORSE DAY BY DAY!

So my challenge is that you all makeup your mind to take stands when hey need to be taken. No longer choose to hide when the opportunity to speak against some injustice or travesty occurs. Be the fighter that you need to be for those who can’t fight. Be the voice to the voiceless around us. Be the strength that someone who has no more strength needs.

This is my challenge now standup, quit hiding, and make a stand for what’s right and make this your mission for life!

God bless all who read and accepts this challenge.
