Marriage in America
What does it mean to be married in America today? For most people who truly understand the origin they know that it has an inception point from the church. You could even say it is a religious act that has its roots in the church from Genesis and when the man and woman were told to be fruitful and multiply. In addition to this understanding it is also understood by the church or should be understood that when a marriage is consummated it is done so sexually by a man and woman for the purpose of reproduction of the human race. Finally let me say that because this is an institution of the church it also is understood that certain body parts like the penis and vagina were made to fit together and be natural. Marriage biblically is defined as a union between a man and a women and I really and truly believe this is sacred and should remain a term and tradition to those who are believers in the biblical meaning of marriage.
Now I will tell you what I think marriage is not and that is between two genders. This solely comes from the biblical definition of a union between a man and woman. Now this may be argued a million different ways to fit and individual’s point of view but this is simply the way it has always been. What people refuse to believe is that any other way then the way it was created by God is unnatural. I’ve had people tell me that marriage was here before God/religion and that it really is not a church thing. Once again people are entitled to what they believe and think and I don’t argue that. However, what I will defend is that this started with the church which is what I and many believe and that is where it should stay.
Not only is the word marriage being tossed around like a dirty rag but also is the rainbow symbol. Biblically speaking the rainbow is a promise from God that He will not destroy the world with water again. This symbol has been taken on in a way to promote what is believed by men and women of faith as a promise from God not an unnatural union or symbol. Now for many this may come off as homophobic or bashing a certain community but I am simply defining what believers today believe.
If I were to leave you the reader with anything to think about it would be to ask yourself why it is that marriage is being taken and misused for a way that God did not intend it to be used? I would also ask why is a symbol that represents a promise from God to mankind also being perverted. Keeping in mind that the definition of perversion is a misuse of something.
I did not right this to be argumentative or judgmental but to simply point out somethings that most believers believe but rarely get an opportunity to share because of the loudest and most judgmental out there. I have no problem with people making choices to and be with whomever they desire because there truly is only one final judge. I just wish we would keep the church and state separate because when you blend the two it is dangerous. I believe this is why you have so much up-roar about the term marriage. The church community feels like it has been stolen from the sacred institution and the state feels like it can just revisit habits of old. One must remember we left England as a country to escape the enforcement of religion on the state but how quickly we forget that. We forget this history when we place moral decisions on voting ballots but these issues should be addressed by the religious community. They are moral issues in my opinion and the church doesn’t need the state to be its moral fiber the church can and is willing to do it on its own. So that’s my two cents on the whole marriage subject. I hope it brought some clarity and allows one to think about why there is such an outrage and up-roar when it comes to certain topics and symbols. Remember that dialog is much more effective than bickering and arguments. These two are unfruitful and non- effective.
