Reality Check

So after this last election I thought I would provoke the thought of people who are living in a bubble. The reality of people not understanding who God is has blown me away in the last few months. I heard some of the most ridiculous statements not only by everyday Christians but even Christian leaders in very influential positions. Things like “the President is in office becaseu Pastors did not do their job!” or things like “We will see what happens because of our choices!” this being said by “intelligent” people? I was so angry with the ignorance of people. I got tired of texts and emails about voting for the one who is “closest to my belief system.” What did that mean? I am a pro choice person! I believe that people have the right to choose their own fait and outcome. The ignorant statement that  We are putting someone in the whitehouse that will be supporting abortion and gay marriage was crazy to me. Crazy from this perspective; people have the right to make choices and they will have to live with them. God Himself does not make us choose him so why are we trying to force morality and our beliefs on people. As Christians I thought we were suppose to show that we are Christians by our love? Not by our ability to shuck our responsibilities on the political system. Boy here is the big one! Racism is still alive and well today! People based so much of what they felt about the current President because of his race. What is really going on today in 2012 when this is still an issue? We are living in a bubble if we think this is all gone away. The real reality is that most people are uninformed, lazy, complacent, and religious. All of these make for a society that will not lead people to the true and living God. I so sick of certain people saying to me that I was only voting for a black man because I was black. That pissed me off! Sorry if this language offends it is not meant to. Tis is how angry I was. I literally will not support some Christian radio because of the false information that is going on over the air. People cannot use their positions to put their opinions out there like it’s the gospel truth or the bible. I have talked to many people and they are more encouraged now that the church has it wrong when it comes to Gods heart for people. Sin is sin true enough and our goal is to show the love a Christ. We don’t condone sin but we are commanded to love those who are in sin. Loving them does not constitute acceptance. Love is the key to everything this world needs. Some reality checks are as follows…

  1. When was the last time you won somebody to the lord because love ruled your heart?
  2. When was the last time you prayed for that confused person who only sees love not necessarily as sexual orientation because it has been abused, manipulated, misconstrued, perverted, or not shown at all?
  3. When was the last time you prayed and asked God to give you compassion for those who are in places that they can’t seem to get out of such as; prostitution, homosexuality, drugs, depression, hopelessness, bitterness, hatred, and many other obvious things we see evident in our very sick world.
  4. Have you ever viewed the sins of this world as sickness of the soul that you can help to cure?
  5. When was the last time you shut your mouth instead of gossiping about the latest buch of nothing?
  6. When was the last time you stopped to mind your own business while using idol time to get closer to your God?
  7. How many people are truly drawn to you because you exhibit God in such a manner that they want what you have?
  8. When was the last time you spent all your extra time trying to figure out why we are not doing/seeing greater works like John tells us we will do?
  9. When was the last time you asked God for forgiveness for being a hypocrite becaue this is truly what the church is the best at?

Real talk people let’s get it together and be who we are supposed to be. I talk to people all the time and they are sick of the world the way it is. I also talk to Christians who want to be what we read about in the New Testament.

Lets get it together, ask for forgiveness, embrace your responsibility, be the moral compass of this world and live for Jesus.
