Let’s keep it separate!
What am I talking about when I make this statement? What I am referring to is the separation between the church and state. For years I have heard things spoken by (as far as I’m concerned ignorant people) to me about my right to vote and how important it is to vote “according to my faith!” or “vote biblically!” my first thought is what does this mean? It amazes me the amount of ignorance that still prevails in this world and mainly the church. Please don’t misunderstand my point of view. I am not bashing the church more than correcting it. We have moved into a place where we have forgotten that God is sovereign. God is not only sovereign but He has complete providence in this whole thing. As a black man in this world I am responsible for every action that I perform and at the same time I have a duty and obligation to represent the god I stand for. With this being said this does not mean that I live in a “Christian bubble” completely oblivious to what is really going on in his world. When we get to a place as the “church” when we realize it’s not all about us and how much we can affect this world through things like votes but action then this world will be a whole lot better. We need to stop expecting moralism to come from political arenas. We need to stop thinking that putting power into an already corrupt system doesn’t change people’s lives but true believers who Love unconditionally will. I have said before that drugs have been illegal for years and people somehow are still drug addicts. In addition to this abortion has been illegal as well yet babies are still being killed. So it’s not about the political world bringing change but those who truly love people enough to be there in their times of need. I don’t want politicians telling me whatis moral and what isn’t. They are a part of the state and government that has no spiritual influence when it comes to the overall decisions made. The biggest misnomer of all of this is that this country was based on biblical principles and not that 9 of the 12 founding fathers where Christians. If we really look at the constitution and what it stood for it stood for overall freedoms including religion. They made it clear that they did not want the government to influence church issues but yet hundreds of years later we want to go back to the same mindset that kept our founders in bondage in England. That was for free!
So let me be clear when I say that I want a clear separation of the church and state because this is what our constitution asked for. Ignorance is bliss and as long as we don’t do our own investigation people will continue to be led by ignorant people who hold positions of leadership or highly respected individuals. I love that the bible says that God has no respect of persons meaning He sees us all the same and no one is less or greater in His eyes. Thank God for that because I as a black man have observed many things that have been clearly disrespectful to our erace of people and it still continues to this day. I hope this helps those who tend to put people on pedestals completely forgetting that they are human beings but we all can have a relationship with God that trumps any one man’s opinion.
Sorry to preach but that needed to be said! So to recap I really like to keep politics and religion separate because it should be. As everyday people we should not expect bible preaching to come from politicians in their political positions. However, what we should demand is truth from the leaders of the church today! As believers we should stop passing the buck to others to do our job as Christians in this world. If we were to do our jobs as believers then less and less will be put on politicians to be our countries moral compass? Can you imagine what could become of us stepping up to the plate and people realizing that they can come to people who love more than they judge? So lets be real and true to ourselves when it comes to the weak way of doing things and passing our individual responsibilities to the political world. Do it yourself!
So let’s keep it separate so we can move more into really representing God in this world and letting the political side see more and more on their own that they need god as well. God has never been a dictator so why are we forcing Him on people through propositions? God has never made us serve Him so why are we forcing our individual beliefs on people through political action? We got it all wrong and it needs to be said. Certain things are issues of the heart that only God can deal with and or heal so until we figure this out people will continue to be pissed off at the church and God will be the one they blame.
In closing god is sovereign and provident and does not need our help to run this world but He sure needs a earthly representation of His heart and love for His people. Lets do more of this and less of the other extraneous stuff it is way more productive.
