Being true to self
So today I was informed of some staggering statistics about Christians in America. Now although they wre pretty hard to swallow they did not surprise me one bit. The reason they did not surprise me is because I am very aware of where our country stands. I am also aware of where our world stands when it comes to a true understanding of who God is. I was also very impressed by one of my mentees who spoke from his heart today on fb. Great job B. This young man who I am very impressed with spoke some truths that most adults I come into contact with have not yet realized. I as a person who always speaks the truth in love and positivity love to see people come into the knowledge of truth. Being true to self is;
- Knowing who you are at all times.
- Not being self deceived.
- Happy with who you are.
- Having self confidence that cannot be shaken.
- Not caring about what negative, jealous, insecure people think about you.
- Having a true understanding of who God has created you to be.
- Have learned from past mistakes.
- Can look at yourself in a mirror and realize that you are one of Gods creative works and you have a destiny that only you can fulfill.
- Are not moved by all the latest jargon, philosophies, pressures, or societal fads.
- Are comfortable in your own skin.
- Are selfless in your actions.
- Can honestly say at all times that you are not living in regret.
- Have accepted that you are a unique individual and not a carbon copy of someone else.
- Realizes that if you are talked about you are not thought about.
- Finally realizes that to whom much is given much is required,
These are just a few things to look at when self examining.
I say this to people all the time;
“NEVER BE CONTENT WITH SOMEONE ELSES’ DEFFINITION OF YOU. INSTEAD DEFINE YOURSELF BY YOUR OWN TRUTH, YOUR OWN, BELIEFS, AND BY YOUR TRUE UNDERSTANDING OF WHO YOU ARE AND HOW YOU HAVE COME TO BE. NEVER BE CONTENT UNTIL YOU ARE HAPPY WITH THE UNIQUE INDIVIDUAL GOD HAS CREATED YOU TO BE FROM YOUR CREATION!“
This has become my theme/model if you will for the last fifteen years or so. I set my own standards. I live by my own rules. I live by my own morals and convictions which all are founded by the word of God. This way instead of living to my own detriment while others are happy, I am satisfied knowing at the end of each day I have pleased God. There is no sweeter peace than the peace of God which passes all natural understanding. There is no better sleep than knowing that you have done all that you can with your best efforts and are satisfied with the end results. Finally operating not in perfection but excellence because only one Man walked perfect, however you can do all things with a spirit of excellence. All the while knowing you have given and done your best.
Last but not least remember to youself somewhere in the future and you look much better then you do right now!
