A serious conversation!
So, it’s been a while since I have added blogs to my site. After finishing my 4th book for now I have been slowly transitioning back into some of the things I like to do like coaching. I encouraged everyone with vision for the year back in January, and now want to talk about some things we are seeing, and being affected by in our world today.
Back in November of 2016 I wrote a blog titled “what have we done!” In this blog I highlighted the different repercussion’s we would suffer as a result of white back lash. There is a well- known saying, and history has proven that; “Black success is always followed by white backlash!” Unfortunately we as a country have yet to admit our true history, and until we are ready to do so we will continue to walk around with this white elephant staring us right in the face. I have had people question my tactics because I have stared Racism in the face, talk about it frequently, and refuse to act like it is not alive and well. We as a country have elected a white nationalist who has added a bunch of white supremacists to his cabinet with a token black man, and woman (the only two I might add) who has not a clue of who they are, nor what it is that they are being used to do. They do not represent Black folks at all! Anyone with any type of decency should have heard all of the language, symbolism, double talk, racial undertones, xenophobia, deception, division, and ultimately confusion that was communicated for 16 months. This behavior was not only accepted, but justified in this past election. Until we as a country are willing to address the racism that is still very deeply entrenched in the fabric, and makeup of this country then we will continue to be deceived. Since the election we have seen Russian influence our election, the truth now being called alternative facts, white racist now called alt-right, a white house that refuses to be honest, the intelligence of Americans insulted almost every time something comes from the same white house, people in this administration dropping like flies because of their involvement with Russia, and so much more ridiculous behaviors. We are a laughing stock to this entire world right now. Not only did I see this coming, but I am enjoying this decision made out of true anger and racial motivations. Some may ask why I am happy that we are going through this. My very simple answer is because I have no fear of man, nor mankind. My faith and trust are in God almighty who knows all and see’s all. He is giving America exactly what it asked for.
Not only have I seen true division come from different areas in this country, but even the church is divided when it comes to this last election. People are leaving the church because of the leadership we have selected as a country. There was a thing at one time called the separation of church and state, but now “Christians” have decided it’s best to bring them together and let government be the moral compass of the country. Instead of us being the church we have decided to take a back seat and run from opposition. Unlike the civil rights movement where the church led the marches to rights for all man. Today we have now decided it’s best to not address very real issues that face Americans every day. We are lazy, fearful, and poor representation of who Christ was when He walked this earth, and non-effective. We are a joke to the world and this is why people are refusing to walk into churches today in America. This is as real as I can keep it, and I don’t care about what people think about this because it is the truth I am willing to tell. Finally I have also witnessed people choosing to be white evangelicals over being a believer. So, what does this say about the church in 2017 when we have become divided over politics? What does this say about how far we have come as the body of Christ when it comes to race and racial issues? How can any man, or woman of God justify the actions, attitudes, and behaviors of a man who has not represented God at all? There was NOTHING in the fiber of my being that agreed with anything that was being said throughout the entire process. There is only one commandment in the New Testament that God asked us to live by and that is to love God with all of our heart, soul, and mind, and our neighbors as our selves. Until we as the body of Christ get to this, I am good with dead actions and religion! I will be the church without walls being and doing Gods will, and loving people into the kingdom. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, and we need to stop playing church and be the true representation of God in this earth.
I have said and will continue to state that I am unapologetically an African and will standup for what is right. This statement has not sat well with some people because they are not yet ready to face what we have laid out as a road map in this country starting in 1619. If you are unfamiliar with 1619 it is when the first slave ship landed in the Americas. Black folks from that point on were considered property not human. From then to modern day we have been treated as such from policing and us being chased by the early patty wagons to today when we die senselessly. This is who we are as a country, and will continue to be until we face the truth of who we really are. The double talk of our current administration has said that they want to restore law and order, and what this means for people of color is more over policing instead of facing the real issues of poverty, financial despair, and inequality in our inner cities. People rarely want to talk about cause and effects. Those of us who are conscious understand and decode double talk. We have no one representing our issues in this current administration. This is by design. Make America great again means to take us back to a time where we once were as a country, “aint nobody got time for that!” We need to wake the hell up, and see what is really going on!
So, when it comes to having a real conversation we have to be willing to talk the real talk and admit where we are as individuals, a country, and world. The bottom line is that we are here on this earth to serve a purpose. We need to know what our purpose is so, that we can be effective in whatever it is that we are called and destined to do. We must pay very close attention to what is going on around us while seeking the truth for ourselves. We can’t afford to be ignorant in today’s world because facts are often hidden and truth is to be sought by those of us who are diligent. The devil is always in the details, and so is the truth. The truth of motive and agenda. So, I beseech you to study to show yourself approved unto God (2 Timothy 2:15). In layman’s terms; don’t be ignorant by not using all the resources out there we have to be wise especially in the information age. Remember that ignorance is a choice!
Finally I am especially hard on the “church” because I am supposed to be. We have been hoodwinked (in my Malcolm X voice) somehow into thinking that what we have accepted is ok. We are no longer living in the old days, the black church as an institution is still singing slave songs, while white evangelicals are still living in white privilege. This is the exact reason why Sunday is the most segregated day of the week. This effect has penetrated our world and we have yet to deal with the demonic force of racism, and until we do we are just playing church! So don’t expect me to let up any time soon on the “church” somebody has got to say something. I know many who are addressing this issue, and I am using my platform to be vocal about it as well.
If we are not honest we can’t be helped. We must be willing to be honest with ourselves about what and where we stand on issues that pertain to us as human beings living on this earth. This conversation is as real as it gets, but what are you going to do with it as the reader? Don’t be the one who receives information and does nothing with it. Remember ignorance of the law is no excuse. Once you have been empowered with information one is then held accountable to what they have heard, and/or received.
